Thousands of Indian Curriculum Students Impacted by Decision
Dubai: In a move prioritising student safety, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially cancelled the Class 10 (ICSE) and Class 12 (ISC) board exams for all students in the United Arab Emirates. The decision was announced after a thorough review of ongoing regional tensions and was made in consultation with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
Exams Postponed, Now Cancelled for 2026
Originally, the ICSE and ISC exams were scheduled to begin in early March 2026. However, as the regional security situation became increasingly uncertain, the exams were first postponed to April 6, 2026. After further assessment, CISCE determined that cancelling the exams was in the best interest of students, exam staff, and all stakeholders involved, given the continuing risks.
Safety and Wellbeing Take Center Stage
CISCE underscored that the well-being of candidates and examination personnel remains their highest priority. With thousands of Indian curriculum students in UAE schools due to sit for these crucial exams, the board’s decision seeks to eliminate anxiety and ensure that no student’s safety is compromised.
Alternative Assessment to Determine Results
To ensure academic progress is not derailed, the board will adopt an alternative assessment mechanism to determine final results for all affected students. Details of the new assessment process will be announced soon, reassuring families that students’ academic records will be fairly evaluated despite the cancellation of in-person exams.
Improvement Exam Opportunity Offered
Addressing concerns about grades and future opportunities, CISCE has also confirmed that students dissatisfied with their calculated results will have a chance to improve their marks through a special Year 2026 improvement exam.
