Dubai: Iran said it will do this because they are in charge of the Strait of Hormuz along with Oman.
Amir Saeid Iravani, who represents Iran at the United Nations, talked about this during a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Thursday. He said that for the two months, ships can go through the Strait of Hormuz for free.
After that, Iran will start charging them fees. He did not say how much the fees will be or when exactly they will start. Iravani also said that Iran and Oman are the ones responsible for the Strait of Hormuz. He told ships to use the route that Iran says is okay.
The Iranian representative said Iran will follow the agreement they made, but only if the United States does what they promised. He thanked the people who helped make the deal happen.
At the time he was upset with the United States for doing something bad on June 27 even though they had made an agreement. He said Iran will do something back if the United States breaks the agreement again.
The Strait of Hormuz is very important because a lot of oil goes through it. So people who care about oil and shipping are watching to see what happens with the fees. People are going to be talking a lot about the fees after the 60 days are over because they want to know what is going to happen next.
