Dubai, May 4 2026: Dubai Airports dealt with six million passengers during some tough times keeping the world connected even when there were big problems with airspace that made airlines change their schedules and routes.
From February to April 30 Dubai International Airport (DXB) helped with more than 32,000 planes taking off and landing and handled 213,000 tonnes of cargo. The airport kept working. Not at full speed by constantly changing flight paths because the airspace available in the region was changing all the time.
The problems started because of the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran which closed some flight paths and put a lot of pressure on big airports in the Middle East.. Dubai Airports kept going because it worked closely with airlines, people on the ground and air traffic controllers.
You can see how bad the problems were when you look at the numbers for the part of the year. DXB had 18.6 million passengers from January to March 2026 which’s 20.6 percent less than the year before. March was the month with 65.7 percent less traffic, only 2.5 million passengers. This shows just how big the problems were.
The amount of cargo also went down by 22.7 percent to 399,600 tonnes. The number of planes taking off and landing decreased by 20.8 percent to 88,000.. Even with all these problems the airport was still working well and the people handling baggage were doing a better job than average.
India was still the market for DXB with 2.5 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Pakistan. London was the city for flights followed by Mumbai and Jeddah.
Dubai Airports says it was able to keep going because everyone in the aviation business worked together including airlines like Emirates and flydubai. They made changes and decisions quickly which helped keep passengers and cargo moving when things were at their worst.
Now that things are getting back to normal DXB is slowly increasing the number of flights. With a lot of people wanting to travel and its important role as a stopover for flights around the world Dubai Airports is, in a position to recover and grow again in the coming months.
