Dubai, May 4 2026: Dubai International Airport (DXB) is getting back to normal after UAE airspace fully reopens. Authorities are working to get flight schedules back to normal after weeks of problems.
Dubai Airports says it will increase flights at DXB. They are working with airlines like Emirates. Flydubai to make this happen. The “oneDXB” network is helping to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely.
The UAE airspace was closed because of the US-Israel-Iran conflict. This caused airspace restrictions in the region. A jet fuel shortage made things worse. Many airlines had to fly through safe air corridors. This meant fewer flights were available.
With these challenges DXB was still able to operate partially from March 1 to April 30. They handled around six million passengers, over 32,000 aircraft movements and 213,000 tonnes of cargo. Authorities said working together with aviation networks helped keep critical connections going during the crisis.
The problems still had an impact on traffic. DXB had 18.6 million passengers in the quarter of 2026. This was a 20.6 percent drop from the year. March was especially bad with passenger numbers down 65.7 percent to 2.5 million. This was one of the drops in DXBs history. Cargo volumes and aircraft movements also decreased.
India was still DXBs travel market. They had 2.5 million passengers during the quarter. Saudi Arabia, the UK and Pakistan were also markets. London was the city destination, followed by Mumbai and Jeddah.
Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO said the recent period was “unprecedented” for an airport like DXB. He said DXB is important for travel with over 22 million connecting passengers every year. He highlighted that working together quickly helped DXB stay operational under pressure.
Now that airspace restrictions are lifted authorities expect traffic to get back to normal slowly.. It will depend on available flight paths and stability in Middle Eastern airspace.
These developments show how global aviation networks can be affected by tensions. They also show how the sector can adapt and recover with action. DXB flights are. Dubai Airports is working hard to get back to normal. The airport is a hub and its recovery is important, for international travel.
