Dubai’s Flagship Carrier Ramps Up Operations
Dubai-based Emirates airline has announced that it expects to resume its entire global flight network in the coming days, as regional airspace restrictions ease following recent disruptions. The carrier has steadily increased its operations and is closely monitoring regional developments, with officials stressing that passenger safety remains the top priority.
Gradual Recovery and Expanding Services
Currently, Emirates is operating on a reduced schedule but is working quickly to restore flights across its worldwide network. By March 7, the airline aims to operate 106 daily return flights to 83 destinations—about 60 percent of its normal schedule. The recovery effort has already seen Emirates transport roughly 30,000 passengers out of Dubai on Thursday alone, helping clear the backlog created by earlier airspace closures. Before the disruptions, Emirates operated flights to around 140 destinations globally.
Boosting Capacity on High-Demand Routes
To accommodate the surge in demand from stranded travellers, Emirates has added extra capacity to several key routes. The airline now plans 11 daily flights across five airports in the United Kingdom and 22 daily flights to nine cities in India—two of its busiest markets. Services to the United States remain robust as well, with flights to seven American destinations helping restore vital long-haul links.
Guidance for Passengers
Emirates is prioritizing travellers with existing bookings as capacity returns. Passengers are advised to head to the airport only if they have a confirmed ticket, and to keep checking the airline’s website or official channels for the latest updates, since schedules may shift as airspace conditions evolve.
Other UAE airlines, including Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, and flydubai, have also resumed limited services as the country’s aviation sector moves toward normalcy. Authorities report that air defence systems remain on high alert after intercepting several missiles and drones since February 28, and aviation officials continue to coordinate the safe reopening of regional skies.
