Nation’s Defence Systems Remain on High Alert as Attacks Continue
The United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems successfully intercepted four ballistic missiles and six drones launched from Iran on March 15, 2026, as regional tensions remain high. According to the Ministry of Defence, these interceptions are part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to protect its airspace and ensure the safety of residents and critical infrastructure.
Hundreds of Threats Thwarted Since Attacks Began
Since the start of the Iranian attacks, UAE air defence forces have demonstrated exceptional readiness, intercepting a total of 298 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,606 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Ministry’s data highlights the scale and persistence of the threat, as well as the effectiveness of the country’s multi-layered air defence capabilities.
Human Toll: Casualties and Injuries Across Nationalities
Despite the robust defence measures, the attacks have taken a toll. Six people have lost their lives—Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals among them. In addition, 142 people have suffered minor to moderate injuries. The wounded include residents and citizens of diverse backgrounds, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepali, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, Palestinian, Ghanaian, Indonesian, and Swedish nationalities.

The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its commitment to national security, stating that it stands fully prepared to respond to any threats and will confront any action aimed at undermining the country’s sovereignty and stability. Officials emphasised the ongoing efforts to safeguard the UAE’s interests and national capabilities, reassuring the public that all necessary measures are being taken to protect residents.
