UAE Announces Official Eid Al Fitr 2026 Holiday for Public and Private Sectors

Festive Break Marks End of Ramadan, Unites Residents in Celebration

The United Arab Emirates has officially declared the dates for the Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday, granting a multi-day festive break for employees in both the public and private sectors. The announcement marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.

Public Sector to Enjoy Four-Day Holiday

According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, all federal ministries, public institutions, and government employees will observe the Eid Al Fitr holiday from March 19 to March 22, 2026. Work will officially resume on March 23, allowing public sector staff four consecutive days to celebrate with their families and communities.

Private Sector Holiday Aligned with Moon Sighting

Private sector employees will also observe the Eid holiday from March 19 to March 21. Authorities noted that if Ramadan completes a full 30 days, the holiday will be extended to include March 22, aligning the private sector break with the public sector schedule. This flexible approach ensures that everyone in the UAE can participate in the festivities, regardless of their line of work.

Celebrations, Travel, and Community Spirit

Eid Al Fitr is a time of special prayers, family reunions, charitable giving, and community events. The extended break gives residents a valuable opportunity to travel, plan family gatherings, or simply unwind. With airports, highways, shopping malls, and tourist destinations expecting increased crowds, residents are encouraged to plan their travel and activities early.

Smooth Resumption of Services Post-Holiday

Government offices and essential public services will resume smoothly after the holiday, ensuring continuity for all residents and visitors. The advanced announcement allows both employers and employees to make necessary arrangements for uninterrupted operations.

A Time to Reconnect and Celebrate

With up to four days off for many, this year’s Eid Al Fitr holiday offers a welcome chance for short getaways, family celebrations, and reflection. As the Emirates prepare for a season of joy and unity, the nation extends warm Eid Mubarak wishes in advance to all who are celebrating.
