Six Dead, 122 Injured as UAE Intercepts New Wave of Missiles and Drones

The United Arab Emirates continues to face a barrage of missile and drone attacks, with the Ministry of Defence confirming a fresh wave of interceptions on March 10. Air defence systems successfully destroyed eight out of nine ballistic missiles detected, with one missile falling harmlessly into the sea. Authorities also intercepted 26 out of 35 drones, while nine drones managed to land within UAE territory.

Rising Casualties Amid Intensified Assaults

The ongoing attacks, which officials attribute to launches from Iran, have resulted in a growing human toll. Six people have lost their lives since the start of the crisis, including nationals from the UAE, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The Ministry also reported 122 injuries, ranging from minor to moderate, affecting residents of diverse backgrounds—Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepali, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, and Palestinian.

Hundreds of Threats Countered by UAE Defences

Since the beginning of the current escalation, UAE air defences have detected a total of 262 ballistic missiles, successfully intercepting and destroying 241. Nineteen missiles landed in the sea, while two made landfall inside the country. On the drone front, 1,475 drones have been detected, with 1,385 taken down and 90 landing within the UAE. Defence systems have also identified and destroyed eight cruise missiles during this period.

Military Remains on High Alert

The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed that the UAE Armed Forces remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any new threats. Officials stressed that protecting the nation’s sovereignty, security, and stability is a top priority, and that the military will take decisive action against any incursion.

Ongoing Vigilance and Public Reassurance

With the situation still volatile, authorities are urging residents to stay informed and follow official safety guidance. The UAE’s commitment to defending its citizens and residents remains steadfast, as the country continues to navigate one of the most challenging security situations in recent years.
