Dubai officials have firmly denied rumours circulating on social media about a supposed major incident at Dubai International Airport (DXB), assuring the public that airport operations remain completely unaffected. In an official statement, the Dubai Media Office clarified that claims of a serious event at the airport were inaccurate and unfounded.
Authorities explained that the only incident at the airport involved a minor situation caused by falling debris, which occurred following the interception of an aerial threat by the UAE’s air defence systems. A small fragment of shrapnel landed in the vicinity of the airport but was promptly dealt with by emergency teams. Officials stressed that the situation was fully under control, with no injuries or operational disruptions reported at Dubai’s busiest air hub.
With rumours spreading quickly online, Dubai officials reiterated the dangers of sharing unverified information, especially during periods of heightened regional tension. Dubai Police reminded the public that posting or circulating false claims contradicting official announcements is a serious offence. Such actions could lead to criminal penalties, including imprisonment and fines starting at Dh200,000, especially if they incite public panic or threaten safety.
Authorities urged residents and social media users to rely solely on information released by verified government channels. In times of uncertainty, turning to official sources helps prevent confusion and unnecessary concern among the public. Officials emphasized that remaining calm and following government advice are essential for maintaining public order and safety.
The clarification comes as UAE authorities continue to closely monitor regional developments and maintain a heightened state of preparedness to safeguard residents and critical infrastructure. By swiftly addressing both the debris incident and the misinformation online, Dubai is sending a clear message that safety remains a top priority and that the emirate’s key transport hubs are operating as normal.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and avoid contributing to the spread of rumours that could undermine public confidence or stability.
