Saudi Arabia Condemns Iranian Missile Attacks, Vows to Defend Territory

Saudi Arabia has issued a forceful condemnation of recent Iranian missile attacks, calling them “blatant and cowardly” acts of aggression after projectiles targeted Riyadh and the Eastern Province. The Kingdom said its air defenses successfully intercepted and repelled the strikes, but warned that it reserves the right to respond as it sees fit to safeguard its territory and people.

“In light of this unjustified aggression, the Kingdom affirms that it will take all necessary measures to defend its security and protect its territory… including with the option of responding to the aggression,” the Saudi foreign ministry said in an official statement.

Urgent regional consultations

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman moved quickly, holding emergency talks with leaders across the region—including those from the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan. He reassured neighboring countries of Saudi Arabia’s solidarity and readiness to share its capabilities, especially after Iranian missiles reportedly targeted US military bases throughout the Gulf.

Escalation across the region

The latest exchange comes after American and Israeli air strikes on Iranian targets, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile launches not only toward Israel, but also at Gulf states hosting US forces. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reportedly involved in directing the response, according to regional media reports.

European condemnation and calls for restraint

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany condemned Iran’s attacks, stressing that they were not involved in the initial strikes but are maintaining close coordination with Washington, Israel, and regional partners. The European powers called on Iran to avoid further escalation and urged a return to diplomatic negotiations.

Rising tensions hit everyday life

With airspace closures impacting flights and commercial activity across the Gulf, fears are mounting that the situation could spiral into a broader regional conflict. Saudi officials have not released additional operational details but stressed that national security remains their top concern.

As the situation rapidly evolves, Saudi Arabia reiterated its commitment to defend its sovereignty and respond decisively to any further threats.
