Dubai: Actor and former Member of Parliament Govinda has issued a legal warning against the circulation of unverified claims about Govinda’s personal and family life. Govinda’s legal team says that damages of up to Rs100 crore (Rs1 billion) could be sought from those

The notice comes after social media speculation about an alleged court marriage involving Govinda began circulating. The notice targets individuals, media organisations, digital platforms and content creators accused of creating or sharing defamatory or fabricated material.

Deepfakes included in warning

The notice specifically addresses the growing use of intelligence in online content. The notice warns against creating or distributing manipulated photographs, videos, audio recordings, deepfakes or other synthetic material involving Govinda without permission.

Govindas team has also objected to the use of Govindas voice, photographs, identity and likeness particularly in connection with Govindas private and family affairs.

Legal action threatened

According to the notice, Govinda may pursue criminal proceedings over allegations including defamation, invasion of privacy misuse of identity and cybercrime.

The legal action could also seek restrictions involving accounts, property transactions and passports, depending on the circumstances and court orders. Social media accounts and platforms allegedly involved in spreading misleading content could also face action.

The notice claims the rumours may be part of an effort to harm Govinda’s reputation and cause professional damage.

Divorce rumours resurfaced

The warning follows developments involving Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja.

On August 19, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, said Sunita had withdrawn her divorce petition at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court, bringing the proceedings to an end after two years.

Sinha said Govinda had remained neutral throughout the matter and continued to maintain the position after the withdrawal.

Sunita was later seen at the court with Govinda and Sunita’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja.

Family and upcoming projects

Govinda is also continuing his commitments. Govinda’s upcoming film Roopa features debutante R Swarnakar.

Meanwhile Yashvardhan is preparing for his Bollywood debut, in Hero Ki Horrorine, scheduled for release on January 7 2027.

Sunita is also part of the project. Will portray her son’s mother. The latest legal warning underscores Govinda’s intention to challenge what Govinda’s team considers unauthorised online content concerning Govinda’s private life.
