Holy Kaaba to Undergo Annual Cleansing in Revered Islamic Tradition

The Holy Kaaba, a special place for Muslims, will be washed today, June 30. This is a tradition that happens every year at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The Holy Kaaba is washed on 15 Muharram. This tradition was started by Prophet Muhammad. It shows respect and care for the Kaaba.

The people in charge of the Kaaba prepare a mixture of Zamzam water and rosewater to clean it. They also use smelling musk, incense and oils to make the place feel spiritual.

The ceremony starts with getting the Kaaba ready. The inside and outside of the Kaaba are cleaned with cloths that have rose and musk fragrances on them. Then, Zamzam water mixed with rosewater is poured on the floor. Gently wiped with palm leaves.

  • This washing ceremony is very important for Muslims. It shows how much the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cares for the Kaaba, which is the direction Muslims face when they pray. For over 1,400 years, Muslims have faced the Kaaba when they pray. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia makes sure to take care of it.

Every year, the doors of the Kaaba are opened for this ceremony. The people in charge make sure to do everything with respect and care for this place. The washing of the Holy Kaaba is a symbol of the Kingdom’s commitment to taking care of special Islamic places and traditions. This tradition inspires millions of Muslims around the world.
