The Holy Kaaba, a special place for Muslims, will be washed today, June 30. This is a tradition that happens every year at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The Holy Kaaba is washed on 15 Muharram. This tradition was started by Prophet Muhammad. It shows respect and care for the Kaaba.
The people in charge of the Kaaba prepare a mixture of Zamzam water and rosewater to clean it. They also use smelling musk, incense and oils to make the place feel spiritual.
The ceremony starts with getting the Kaaba ready. The inside and outside of the Kaaba are cleaned with cloths that have rose and musk fragrances on them. Then, Zamzam water mixed with rosewater is poured on the floor. Gently wiped with palm leaves.
