Dubai Police warns residents over fake summer travel deals and online holiday scams

Dubai Police have warned people who live in Dubai to be careful of travel deals and online holiday scams because a lot of people are travelling during the summer in the UAE.

This warning is important because some people are trying to trick others through travel website ads on social media and messages that offer very cheap flight tickets, hotel stays and holiday packages that seem too good to be true.

Dubai Police say that these people who try to trick others often pretend to be travel agencies by using their logos and making their ads look very professional. They do this to get people to pay them quickly. A lot of people do not find out they have been tricked until after they have sent money to these people. Then they find out that their bookings are not real.

The police say that these people who try to trick others often tell them that they have to hurry up and pay because the cheap deals are only available for a time or because there are only a few seats left. The police are telling people not to rush and to carefully check all the links and the names of the companies before they give out any banking information.

Dubai Police want people to only use travel agencies that are licensed and to only use platforms when they are making plans for their holiday. They are also telling people not to share their bank card details or passwords with people they do not know or through links that are not secure.

Dubai Police are doing this as part of their campaign called “Be Aware of Fraud”, which is led by the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

People are also being asked to tell the police about any websites or scam attempts through the official e-Crime platform of Dubai Police or by calling 901 if they need help that is not an emergency.
