The United Arab Emirates will make any defensive measures in response to ongoing regional conflict fully public, a senior Emirati official has confirmed. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, moved to quash speculation and social media rumours about possible military responses, insisting that such matters will be clearly communicated through official channels.
Commitment to Clarity and Measured Response
In a statement posted to social media platform X, Gargash emphasized the UAE’s commitment to transparency and accountability. “Any defensive measures that the state will take will be public and clear, and will not rely on press leaks or narratives from unknown sources and intentions,” he stated. Gargash explained that the country’s main priority is to counter ongoing aggression—particularly by Iran—while avoiding actions that could escalate tensions further across the Gulf.
Calls for Restraint and Regional Stability
The senior diplomat urged Iran to act responsibly and refrain from targeting its neighbours. Gargash described Iran’s recent attacks as a “strategic miscalculation,” warning that such moves risk further isolating Tehran from the international community. “Your war is not with your neighbours,” Gargash said, calling on Iran to “return to reason” and help stabilize the region.
UAE Remains on High Alert After Attacks
The comments come as the UAE faces heightened threats following a barrage of missile and drone attacks linked to the wider conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has described the UAE’s current stance as one of defence, following what it calls “brutal and unprovoked” aggression by Iran.
The ministry condemned the attacks as a “flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter,” stressing that the UAE reserves its right to take all necessary measures to protect its national security and territorial integrity.
Significant Threats and Ongoing Vigilance
According to UAE authorities, more than 1,400 ballistic missiles and drones have targeted US assets and other locations across the Gulf in recent days. The UAE has reported several casualties and injuries, including strikes on infrastructure and civilian sites.
With tensions running high, officials continue to monitor the situation closely, vowing to keep the public informed and to act decisively if required to safeguard the nation’s security.
