UAE Air Defences Intercept 7 Ballistic Missiles and 27 Drones in Latest Iranian Attacks

Nation’s Defence Systems Successfully Thwart Wave of Threats

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence has announced that its air defence systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles and 27 drones launched from Iran on March 13, 2026. The interception was part of ongoing defensive operations designed to protect the UAE’s airspace, critical infrastructure, and residents as regional tensions continue to escalate.

Hundreds of Threats Neutralised Since Attacks Began

Since the onset of these attacks, UAE defence forces have demonstrated remarkable efficiency and readiness, intercepting a total of 285 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,567 drones. Authorities highlighted that these threats were neutralised before causing widespread damage, showcasing the effectiveness of the country’s layered air-defence capabilities.

Casualties and Prompt Medical Response

Despite the robust defence measures, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that six people have lost their lives as a result of the attacks, while 141 others sustained minor to moderate injuries. Victims include UAE nationals as well as residents from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Ethiopia, and other countries. Emergency response teams were deployed rapidly, providing medical support and assistance to those affected.

Government Stands Firm Amid Ongoing Threats

Officials emphasised that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any future threats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to defending national sovereignty, public safety, and vital infrastructure. Security agencies remain on high alert and are closely monitoring developments across the region to ensure a swift response to any escalation.

Resilience and Vigilance Keep Nation Safe

The latest interceptions are a testament to the UAE’s advanced air-defence systems and the dedication of its military and emergency services. Despite a large volume of missile and drone launches, the majority of threats have been intercepted, significantly limiting casualties and damage.

Authorities continue to reassure the public that maintaining national security is a top priority and that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard the country and its diverse population as regional challenges persist.
