UAE residents urged to seek shelter during missile threat, avoid filming incidents

UAE authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and put safety first as the country faces an ongoing missile threat. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has confirmed that air defence systems are fully operational and actively intercepting incoming threats, but say public cooperation is critical during these tense times.

If you receive an emergency alert in your area, officials say the most important thing you can do is move to a safe location immediately and stay there until you receive an official “all clear.” Authorities stress that curiosity should not come before safety: avoid the temptation to go outside to film or photograph the situation, as doing so can put you and others at risk and spread misinformation.

For those on the road, the guidance is clear: remain calm and keep driving safely to your destination—don’t stop on highways or public roads to watch or record events. Once you arrive, get inside and seek shelter as soon as possible. Stopping unexpectedly can create dangerous traffic situations and may obstruct emergency services trying to respond.

The Ministry of Defence reported that, on March 5 alone, UAE air defence systems intercepted six ballistic missiles and 125 drones. Since the start of the conflict, authorities have detected 196 ballistic missiles and over a thousand drones, with 1,001 successfully intercepted and 71 falling within UAE territory. Eight cruise missiles have also been detected and destroyed. Defence teams remain on high alert, monitoring the skies around the clock to keep the public safe.

Officials are asking everyone in the UAE to stay calm, follow all instructions from official channels, and avoid sharing rumors or unverified information on social media. Accurate information and adherence to safety protocols are essential to ensure that emergency teams can do their jobs effectively and that everyone stays out of harm’s way.

In these uncertain times, the message is simple: stay alert, listen to official guidance, and prioritize your safety and the safety of those around you. The situation is evolving, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
