The Sa’a area of Al Ain recorded rainfall while the highest temperature in the UAE reached 49.3°C in Sweihan at 2.30 pm, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
These contrasting conditions show the weather pattern in parts of the UAE, with intense heat continuing while convective clouds and showers develop.
Weather alerts remain in place.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as hazardous weather conditions are expected to continue in the UAE. I urge everyone to stay safe.
Convective cloud formations were forecast to persist until about 10 pm on Sunday, with the possibility of rainfall in some areas. Residents have been advised to follow safety instructions and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain and unstable conditions.
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into the coming week over parts of the eastern UAE.

The NCM expects convective clouds to develop again over parts of the UAE on Monday afternoon. These formations could bring rainfall, while winds may reach speeds up to 35km/h.
Humidity is also expected to rise on Monday morning in some coastal areas of the UAE. Despite the possibility of rain, temperatures are expected to remain high as the UAE moves through the days of meteorological summer. I wish the heat eases soon.
Suhail marks a transition.
A significant seasonal marker is also approaching. Suhail is expected to become visible before dawn on August 24, traditionally signalling the beginning of a transition away from the UAE’s most intense summer heat. The appearance of the star has long been regarded across the Gulf as an indicator that the worst of the summer heat will slowly begin to ease.
However, temperatures are not expected to fall immediately. Meteorological summer officially ends on August 31, while astronomical summer continues until September 23. Weather conditions are expected to moderate in the coming weeks, with extreme heat becoming less persistent and nighttime temperatures eventually becoming more comfortable. I look forward to evenings.
