Dubai, May 6 2026: The Eid Al Adha festival in the UAE is probably going to start on May 27. This is what astronomers think will happen.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, who is the Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, said that the new moon that marks the beginning of Dhu Al Hijjah is expected to appear on Sunday, May 17, at 12:01 am UAE time.
The moon will set 58 minutes after the sun sets on the same day. It will be around 10 degrees above the horizon. This means people might be able to see it if the conditions are right.
Because of this, the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah 1447 AH is likely to be on Monday, May 18. Then Arafat Day will probably be on Tuesday, May 26. Eid Al Adha will be on Wednesday, May 27.
Astronomers said these dates are based on what they expect to happen. The dates might change when the religious authorities confirm that they have seen the moon.
Eid al-Adha is an important Islamic festival. People celebrate it by praying, doing things for others and sacrificing animals. It is a time for people to think about their actions and come together. The final dates will be confirmed when they are officially announced. This will happen after people have seen the moon and confirmed the date.
