Trump is expected to meet leaders and foreign ministers from the six GCC countries in New York this week while Washington looks for ways to end the Iran war.
The meeting will happen on Tuesday at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Axios says. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman have been invited.
The State Department sent invitations on Wednesday. The meeting could also bring Arab and Muslim leaders.
The talks will focus on US plans for the period. Trump and senior officials are building a “day-after” strategy,y Axios reports, ts and the plan should be finalised after the November midterm elections.
GCC states could share their views on ending the conflict and on arrangements.
Several GCC countries host US bases and have suffered Iranian attacks during the conflict. Disruptions to oil and gas exports have also caused economic problems across the region.
“Hopefully we are toward the end of the war ” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. Trump said Iran wants an agreement. Said Washington had received direct communication from Tehran.
No ceasefire or final agreement has been announced. Major differences remain between Washington and Tehran.

The reported New York meeting could give GCC states a chance to discuss Washington’s approach as efforts grow. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also seeks a meeting with Trump while he is in New York.
