Dubai: Motorists in Oman can now make their vehicle side and rear windows up to 50 per cent tinted. This change comes under the rules announced by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). The new rules give motorists flexibility. They also make sure that key road safety requirements are still met.
The new rules say that vehicle owners can tint all windows. They cannot tint the front windscreen. It must stay completely clear. This helps ensure that drivers have visibility.
The ROP states that side and rear windows may be tinted to 50 per cent. This helps to balance driver comfort with road safety. This is especially important during Oman’s summer months. Vehicles with factory-installed tinted side windows* can still be licensed. The glass must let in at least 30 per cent of visible light. This helps ensure that drivers have visibility to drive safely.
The new rules also allow motorists to apply matte paint protection films and vehicle wraps. They must meet approved technical specifications. They must also preserve the vehicle’s finish. The updated rules are part of the Royal Oman Police’s efforts to make things simpler for vehicle owners. They still want to keep safety standards on Oman’s roads.
The ROP says that the new rules were introduced after listening to motorists’ suggestions. They want to improve comfort.. They do not want to reduce visibility for drivers or other road users. The police are reminding motorists to make sure that all tinting materials and vehicle wraps meet approved standards. If they do not, motorists may face penalties during inspections.
The ROP is stressing that the front windscreen is still exempt, from the tinting rules. They say that it is essential to follow the updated specifications. This helps to ensure vehicle registration and road safety.
