Iraq Finds Billions of Cash and Gold in Plastic Containers as They Fight Corruption

Dubai: The people in charge in Iraq found a lot of money and gold in containers in a house in Tikrit. This is part of their effort to stop corruption in the country.

Iraqi news says that the police found nine plastic water containers filled with money in a house in Tikrit’s Judicial District. Each container had one billion Iraqi dinars. They also found five plastic containers with a lot of gold.

This is happening because Iraq is really trying to stop corruption. They are looking into people who are important in the government and others who might be doing bad things. The police have arrested 47 people. These people include members of parliament and ranking officials.

This big find in Tikrit happened after another raid the day before. The police found more than 20 billion Iraqi dinars in cash, gold and other valuable things in the house of a member of parliament named Alia Nassif. Alia Nassif and her son were arrested because they are accused of corruption and money laundering. The Iraqi court says that these accusations are still being looked into.

The Iraqi judges started this investigation at the end of 2025. They found out that some government officials were using money for bad things, making fake contracts and taking money they should not have. The government says it will not tolerate corruption. They are still. Might arrest more people who have run away from the country.

The police are still looking into this. Might find more people who have done bad things. They are following the money to see who else was involved in corruption and to get back the money that was taken. Iraq is really fighting corruption, and the Iraqi authorities are working hard to stop it. The Iraqi government wants to make sure that the people of Iraq can trust them.
