Saudi Arabia Unveils New Kaaba Kiswa for Islamic New Year

The Holy Kaaba got a Kiswa on Tuesday. This is a deal because it is the start of the Islamic New Year 1448 AH. The Holy Kaaba is an important place for Muslims all around the world.

In Mecca at the Grand Mosque, the people in charge of the Two Holy Mosques made sure everything went smoothly. They put the Kiswa on the Holy Kaaba. This Kiswa was made by 150 artisans and specialists who worked on it for almost a year. They did a lot of things to make it, like getting the silk ready, weaving, dyeing, embroidering and putting it all together.

The new Kiswa is really big and heavy. It weighs about 1,410 kilograms. It is made from 825 kilograms of silk. They also used silver and gold threads to make designs and words from the Qur’an.

The Kiswa is made up of 47 silk panels with verses from the Holy Qur’an embroidered on them in thread with 24-carat gold. This is an example of how good Islamic artists are at their craft and how beautiful their writing can be. On Monday evening, the people in charge carefully took off the Kiswa. Then they put the one on in a very coordinated way. Now the Holy Kaaba has a brand new Kiswa and Muslims around the world are starting the new Hijri year.

The Kiswa is not just important for reasons; it also shows how good Muslims are at making things. They use techniques and pay close attention to detail. The ceremony to put on the Kiswa is one of the most important events at the Grand Mosque and the Holy Kaaba. This marks the start of Muharram 1448 AH. Is a tradition that has been going on for a long time. It shows how important the Holy Kaaba is and how great Islamic art and culture are. The Holy Kaaba and the Kiswa are a part of the Islamic New Year.
