Midday Work Ban Returns as UAE Strengthens Heat Protection Measures

The United Arab Emirates is bringing back its midday outdoor work ban for the twenty-year in a row. This ban is something the United Arab Emirates does every year to help keep workers from the very hot summer temperatures. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation started this idea. It will begin on June 15 and last until September 15 2026.

Workers are not allowed to work in the direct sunlight or in open areas between 12:30pm and 3:00pm every day. This rule is in place for three months to help reduce the risk of people getting heat exhaustion, dehydration and other health problems because of the heat.

The United Arab Emirates has been doing this for twenty-two years. It is a big part of how the country protects workers. The people in charge say this ban shows that the United Arab Emirates cares about keeping workers safe and healthy while also making sure work gets done.

Dalal Al Shehhi, who works with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said that giving workers a break in the middle of the day is an important part of keeping them safe. She said that taking care of workers’ health is something the whole country is working towards, especially when it is hot outside.

Companies have to provide some things for their workers, like places to rest, drinking water, fans to keep them cool and first aid kits. Companies are also encouraged to do more to help their workers. Some work will not have to follow this ban, like fixing electricity and water or doing work on the roads that needs to be done.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said that most companies are following the rules with over 99 percent of them doing what they are supposed to do. People will be checking to make sure everyone is following the rules.

If someone sees a company not following the rules, they can report it to the ministry. The people in charge say this ban has really helped reduce the number of workers getting hurt because of the heat over the past twenty years. The midday break is one of the important ways the United Arab Emirates keeps workers safe during the very hot summer months. The United Arab Emirates midday outdoor work ban is very important for workers in the United Arab Emirates.
