At least 90 dead in China coal mine explosion as rescue efforts continue

A bad gas explosion happened at a coal mine in northern China, and it killed at least 90 people. This is the mining disaster in China in almost twenty years.

The explosion happened on Friday evening at the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province, which is a big place for coal production in China. There were 247 workers underground when the blast happened because the gas levels got too high.

Rescue teams worked all night to get the survivors out of the mine. By Saturday morning, most of the workers were safe on the surface. The authorities said that at least 90 miners died, and some others were missing at first.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said that everything should be done to rescue the people, and the injured should get help right away. He also wants to know what happened. He told the officials to make sure that the workplaces are safe so that something like this does not happen again.

More than 300 emergency workers went to the site to help with the rescue. On the television, you could see rescue workers in helmets carrying stretchers near the ambulances outside the damaged mine.

The people in charge said that the carbon monoxide levels in the mine were too high before the explosion. Carbon monoxide is a bad gas that you cannot smell, and it often causes accidents in mines.

The authorities said that someone from the company that runs the mine is being investigated because they might not have followed the safety rules.

This is the mining accident in China since 2009, when more than 100 people died in a coal mine explosion. Even though the safety rules have gotten better in the past few years, mining accidents still happen in China’s big coal industry. There are still a lot of problems with safety and old equipment.

Shanxi province is a major coal-producing province in China and provides the country with a lot of energy. There have been many mining accidents there because the underground conditions are very dangerous.

This latest accident is making people look again at the safety rules for mines in China’s coal industry. The coal mine accident is a sad thing, and the coal mine explosion is a big tragedy. The coal mine in Shanxi province is still a dangerous place, and the coal industry in China needs to be safer.
