Qatar Airways restores schedules after Iran conflict turbulence

Qatar Airways has seen a 7 per cent decrease in the profit it made over the year. This is because the airline is still getting back on its feet after a lot of problems caused by the Middle East airspace being closed because of the conflict in Iran.

The airline that is based in Doha said the last year was one of the worst years they have had to deal with since the COVID-19 pandemic. They made a profit of QAR7.08 billion, which is the same as $1.94 billion for the 2025/26 financial year.

Qatar Airways said that things got really bad when there were a lot of problems between countries in the region. This caused a lot of flights to be cancelled, changed or delayed, which affected a lot of people who were travelling through Doha.

Despite all the problems, Qatar Airways was still able to carry 41.8 million passengers. They are trying to get their flights back to normal and rebuild their network.

The problems in the region really affected Doha, which is a major place where people travel between Europe, Asia and Africa. Hamad International Airport had a time when airlines in the Gulf had to change their routes or stop flying for a while.

Qatar Airways did some flights to help get back on track and started flying to some places in the region again, like Abu Dhabi.

The new Group CEO, Hamad Al-Khater, said the last year was really tough for the airline. He said it is not often that an airline has to deal with many problems in just one year.

Qatar Airways is working hard to get its flights to more than 160 places by the summer of 2026. The part of the airline that deals with cargo was able to move 1.43 million tonnes of freight, which is about 12 per cent of the global air freight market.

The airline was also very good at getting flights to their destinations on time, with 86 per cent of flights arriving on schedule. They also announced some plans to grow the airline, including buying up to 210 new planes and 400 engines from Boeing and GE Aerospace.
