Dubai is dealing with a dust storm that went across several parts of the UAE on Wednesday. This storm reduced the visibility. Made it hard for people to do things outside. It also made the weather people issue alerts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah because the strong winds are affecting a lot of areas in the country.
The people in charge of weather at the National Centre of Meteorology issued a warning about the dust after the sand and dust in the air made it hard to see more than 1,000 metres in many places around 11 am. They told people who live there those who have allergies and breathing problems to stay inside and not go out unless they have to.
People who are driving should be careful because they cannot see very far on the roads and highways. They should keep a distance from other cars, turn on their headlights when they need to and follow what the traffic people say.
The weather people say that the UAE has a low-pressure system from the east, a high-pressure system from the west, and an upper-air ridge. All these things together are making the weather unstable and dusty everywhere.
The strong winds from the south-west to the north-west, which can be as fast as 40 km/h, will keep making dust and sand go up in the air all day. The bad weather is also making the sea conditions worse. The people in charge say that the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be rough later in the day.
People who go to the beach, fishermen and people who work on boats should be careful because the rough sea and strong winds can make it dangerous near the water.
Even though the weather is dusty, it is still going to be very hot with temperatures between 43°C and 45°C near the sea and in some areas. The mountains will be a bit cooler with temperatures between 29°C and 34°C.
The weather people say that the dusty weather and changing temperatures will probably keep going through the weekend. It might get a bit cooler on Thursday. Then it will get hot again on Friday. People who live in the UAE should keep an eye on the weather forecast. Be careful when the weather is bad.
