UAE Announces Eid Al Adha Holidays for Public Sector Employees

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced that Federal Authority for Government Human Resources is giving a five-day paid holiday to UAE public sector employees. This holiday is for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.

The holiday will start on Monday, May 25. It will go on until Friday, May 29. The official work will start again on Monday, June 1.

This announcement means that federal government employees will get a break. The UAE is getting ready for an important occasion in the Islamic calendar.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources made this announcement about the Eid Al Adha holiday. At the time, authorities in Dubai are getting ready to host a public moon-sighting event. This event is for the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent on May 17. The event will be held at the Jebel Nazwa Trail. It is organised by Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. The event will start at 5 pm. It will go on after sunset. It will continue until the crescent observation process is finished.

Some people looked at the stars. They think that the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah will be on Monday, May 18 2026. If that is correct, then the Day of Arafah will be on Tuesday, May 26. Eid Al Adha will likely start on Wednesday, May 27. We have to wait for the official moon sighting announcement by religious authorities to be sure.

The UAE Ministry of Education also said that schools will be closed for Eid break. This break will be from May 25 to May 29. It is for students, teachers and administrative staff. If we add the weekends before and after the holiday, then many students and educators will get a nine-day break.

Private schools in Dubai will follow the holiday schedule. They will reopen on Monday, June 1.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority announced that private schools in Sharjah will be closed for the Eid holiday from May 25 to May 28. Then, academic and administrative activities will start again on June 1.

Eid Al Adha is an occasion. It is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. Eid Al Adha is observed every year on the day of Dhu Al Hijjah. It happens at the time of the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. People mark this occasion with prayers, charitable acts, family gatherings and traditional celebrations across the world. They celebrate Eid al-Adha with events. Eid Al Adha is a time for many people.
