Abu Dhabi: The people in charge in Abu Dhabi did a great job of dealing with more than 80 million cubic metres of rainwater in just one week after it rained really heavily. This shows that Abu Dhabi is very good at responding to emergencies.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport said that the amount of water they handled is like filling 32,000 swimming pools. This gives you an idea of how bad the weather was and how work it took to clean up the mess.
A lot of people and equipment were involved in the clean-up. Over 2,400 people were sent to the areas that were affected. They worked day and night with over 850 machines and 610 big trucks that can carry water. Their job was to remove the water that had collected on the roads in areas and on important infrastructure.
The people in charge said that everyone working together was very important to keep everything in Abu Dhabi. Even though the weather was bad important services like hospitals and schools kept running. Peoples daily lives were not disrupted too much.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport said that acting fast and planning well were crucial to keeping people safe and making sure that the roads and public transport kept running. By removing the floodwater they were able to keep the traffic moving and prevent a lot of damage to public and private property.
This big operation shows that Abu Dhabi is serious about making sure its infrastructure can withstand problems and that it is ready for emergencies especially with the weather being so unpredictable these days.
