Trump Announces Two-Week Ceasefire with Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Washington: United States President Donald Trump has said that there will be a ceasefire with Iran for two weeks. This means that the United States will not carry out any military strikes for now. Donald Trump calls this a “sided” truce that can help bring long-term peace to the region.

This decision was made after some important people, including Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir talked to Washington and asked them to wait before doing anything. Donald Trump says that the ceasefire depends on Iran making sure that the Strait of Hormuz is opened again safely and immediately. This strait is very important for the world.

On Truth Social Donald Trump wrote that the United States has already done what it needed to do in terms of the military and they are close to making an agreement with Tehran. He also said that Iran has given a 10-point proposal that could be the start of a lasting solution to the problem.

The announcement was made before a deadline that the United States had given to Iran. If Iran did not comply the United States would have carried out strikes on important targets. A senior official from the White House said that Israel has also agreed to stop fighting for now which means that everyone has agreed to pause the fighting.

The conflict between the United States and Iran started in February and has caused a lot of problems. It has affected markets around the world disrupted oil supplies and made people fear that there could be a bigger war in the region. If the Strait of Hormuz is opened again it could help make things more stable in terms of politics and the economy.

Some people are hopeful about the ceasefire. Analysts say that it will only work if everything is implemented quickly and if both sides trust each other. This is not certain. The situation is still very fragile and changing fast. The United States and Iran need to work to make sure that the ceasefire is successful and that is what Donald Trump and Iran are trying to do with the ceasefire and the 10-point proposal, from Iran.
