Rain Alert: Abu Dhabi Lowers Speed Limits, Urges Drivers to Slow Down

The people in charge in Abu Dhabi are taking steps to make sure everyone is safe on the roads because of the rainy weather. The police are telling drivers to slow down and be very careful.

The Abu Dhabi Police said that they have temporarily lowered the speed limit on some roads to reduce the risks when the roads are wet and it is hard to see. Drivers need to follow the speed limits that are shown on the electronic signs, which are being changed in real time based on the weather and how busy the roads are.

Some of the roads like the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road and the road from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain now have a speed limit of 100 km/h while some parts of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road have an even lower speed limit of 80 km/h. The police are doing this to prevent accidents because the roads are slippery and it is easy to crash when you stop suddenly.

The police are also reminding drivers to keep a distance from the car in front of them not to change lanes suddenly and to stay focused on driving. They are telling people not to use their phones or try to take pictures while driving in bad weather.

The authorities are also warning people not to drive into areas that are flooded or have a lot of water. They are saying that if you do you could get a fine of up to Dh2,000 have your car taken away and get black points on your license. This is true even if it does not seem like a deal.

The National Centre of Meteorology is saying that the weather will stay unstable for a while because of a low-pressure system that is bringing clouds, rain and strong winds.

There are emergency teams to help if something happens and people are being told to check for updates and plan their trips carefully. The authorities are saying that it is very important to drive and follow the safety rules so that everyone, on the roads can stay safe.
