UAE Urges Global Action Against Iranian Missile and Drone Attacks

Envoy Warns Attacks Threaten Regional Security and Violate International Law

The United Arab Emirates has called on the world community to take decisive action against a surge of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran, warning that these strikes endanger regional stability and breach international legal norms. Speaking in Geneva, Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, briefed journalists on the gravity of the escalating situation.

Over 1,400 Attacks Target UAE and Gulf States

Al Musharakh condemned what he described as “unprovoked Iranian aggression” against the UAE and other Gulf countries. The attacks, he said, have violated national sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. According to the envoy, the UAE has been targeted by more than 1,400 missiles and drones since the conflict escalated, with air defence systems successfully intercepting most of the threats. Despite these efforts, the attacks have resulted in the deaths of four civilians and left 114 others injured, underscoring the severe risks to ordinary people.

Call for International Condemnation and Unified Response

The UAE is urging the global community—especially the UN Security Council—to condemn the attacks and take steps to prevent further aggression. Al Musharakh stressed that “the security of the region is indivisible,” warning that violations of any one country’s sovereignty threaten the entire region’s stability. He added that continued attacks undermine efforts to promote de-escalation and peaceful dialogue.

Diplomatic Moves and Ongoing Engagement

In response to the attacks, the UAE has taken several diplomatic steps, including closing its embassy in Tehran, summoning the Iranian ambassador, and lodging an official protest. Emirati diplomats in Geneva are actively engaging with UN officials and humanitarian organizations to keep them informed of the situation and its humanitarian impact.

Life in UAE Continues Despite Tensions

Despite the ongoing regional tensions, Al Musharakh reassured that life in the UAE remains normal, with economic, tourism, and financial sectors operating without disruption. He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to peace but affirmed the nation’s right to defend its sovereignty and security in line with international law.
