UAE Applauds US Terrorist Designation for Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan

The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the recent decision by the United States to officially designate the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a terrorist organization. The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the move as a vital step in fighting extremism and restoring security across the region, particularly during a period of heightened instability in Sudan.

Backing US Efforts to Counter Extremism

In a statement released on Monday, the UAE expressed its full support for the measure, which was announced by the administration of President Donald Trump. Emirati officials emphasized that the US designation is part of broader international efforts to tackle violence and instability tied to the group’s activities in Sudan.

The UAE noted that extremist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood have played a significant role in escalating tensions and undermining peace efforts during Sudan’s ongoing political and humanitarian crisis.

Curtailing Financial and Logistical Support

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that this designation is an important step in restricting the Muslim Brotherhood’s access to financial and logistical resources in Sudan. By cutting off these channels, officials believe it will be more difficult for the group to organize or support acts of extremism, hatred, and terrorism.

The statement reiterated the UAE’s strong stance against all forms of extremism and terrorism. The country has consistently worked alongside global partners to counter radical ideologies and strengthen security across the Middle East and Africa.

Call for International Cooperation

UAE officials also underscored the importance of coordinated international action in confronting organizations that threaten peace and stability. They stressed that only through global cooperation can the spread of extremist movements be curbed and civilians protected from the impact of ongoing conflict.

Commitment to Supporting Sudan’s Peace and Security

With Sudan grappling with complex political and security challenges, the UAE affirmed that targeting extremist groups is a crucial component of wider efforts to restore peace and support a diplomatic resolution.

By endorsing the US decision, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism, promoting regional stability, and working with international partners to resolve conflicts and protect communities at risk.
