Three Dead, Over 100 Injured in UAE Amid Ongoing Missile and Drone Attacks

The United Arab Emirates has faced a barrage of missile and drone attacks in recent days as regional tensions escalate, leaving three people dead and at least 112 others injured. UAE air defence systems have been working around the clock, intercepting and destroying the vast majority of threats targeting the country.

Ministry of Defence Details Interceptions and Casualties

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, air defence units detected 16 ballistic missiles on March 7 alone, successfully intercepting 15, with one missile falling harmlessly into the sea. Authorities also reported the detection of 121 drones, of which 119 were destroyed. Two drones, however, did fall within UAE territory.

Since the onset of the Iranian attacks, the Ministry says the UAE has detected a staggering 221 ballistic missiles, intercepting 205 of them. While 14 missiles fell into the sea, two landed within the country. In addition, 1,305 drones have been detected since the beginning of the crisis, with 1,229 intercepted and 76 falling inside UAE territory. Eight cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed.

Casualties Include Foreign Nationals

Despite the high success rate of the UAE’s air defences, the attacks have resulted in casualties. Officials confirmed that three people—nationals of Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh—have lost their lives since the assault began. There have also been 112 minor injuries, affecting a diverse group of people from countries including the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, and Turkey. Most injuries were minor and treated promptly by emergency services.

Military Preparedness and Ongoing Vigilance

The Ministry of Defence has stressed that the UAE’s armed forces remain fully prepared to counter any threats and protect the nation’s security, sovereignty, and stability. Authorities assure the public that they are monitoring the situation closely and are ready to respond to any further escalations as regional conflict continues.

With tensions running high across the Middle East, the UAE continues to prioritise the safety of its residents and the protection of vital infrastructure, vowing decisive action against any future threats.
