No Signs of Panic Buying in UAE Supermarkets as Shoppers Remain Calm

UAE Residents Stick to Routine Grocery Shopping

Despite a recent surge in rumours about panic buying amid regional tensions, shoppers across the UAE are largely sticking to their regular purchasing habits. Supermarkets throughout the country report normal foot traffic and steady sales, with shelves remaining well-stocked and supply chains operating smoothly.

Confidence in Supply Chains Reassures Residents

Many residents say they have heard speculation about stockpiling but see no reason to alter their usual shopping routines. Mohammad Jamshah, a 40-year-old Indian resident, shared that he continues to buy groceries on a weekly basis, with only a slight increase in basic supplies as a precaution. “So far it’s fine. I’m not keeping anything for like a month. It’s just like as usual, like a week or something like that,” he explained.

Similarly, Walid Rabah, a 41-year-old Lebanese resident, expressed confidence in the UAE’s ability to maintain stable supplies. “We are absolutely happy with the supply. We’re not panicking, especially in the UAE. We know everything is secured, everything is well maintained, so no need for any panic,” Rabah said.

Retailers Confirm Strong Supplies and Stable Operations

Supermarket operators echo the public’s calm response. Kamal Vachani, Deputy CEO and Partner at Al Maya Group, confirmed that stores across the UAE are fully stocked with fast-moving consumer goods and continue to receive regular imports. “Our stores operate 24 hours a day throughout the year, and there is no reason for panic buying,” he emphasized.

Retailers did observe a brief uptick in demand earlier in the week—a typical response during times of uncertainty—but quickly noted a return to normal customer behavior.

Authorities Urge Normal Shopping Habits

UAE authorities have reassured residents that the nation maintains robust strategic reserves and a diverse network of import channels, ensuring there is no risk of shortages. Officials encourage shoppers to avoid unnecessary stockpiling, emphasizing that supply chains remain resilient and fully capable of meeting demand.

As regional news continues to unfold, both retailers and residents are demonstrating confidence and composure, underscoring the UAE’s stability and preparedness in maintaining essential supplies for all.
