UAE Confirms Eid Al Fitr 2026 Holiday Dates for Public and Private Sectors

The UAE has officially announced the dates for the Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday, giving both public and private sector employees clarity for planning travel, family gatherings, and festive celebrations at the end of Ramadan.

According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, all federal ministries and government entities will observe a holiday from March 19 to March 22, 2026, with work resuming on March 23. This means public sector employees will enjoy a four-day break to mark the Islamic festival.

For the private sector, the Ministry has confirmed a holiday from March 19 to March 21. However, if Ramadan lasts 30 days, the break will be extended to include March 22, bringing it in line with the public sector schedule.

Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan’s month-long fast, is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon—a tradition that unites communities across the region. Once Eid is confirmed, families come together for special prayers, festive meals, and acts of charity such as Zakat Al Fitr.

Across the UAE, Eid is celebrated with mosque prayers, fireworks, shopping deals, and family-friendly events. Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s most famous landmarks are expected to be at the heart of the festivities, drawing crowds of residents and visitors alike.

Authorities are encouraging everyone to plan ahead, especially those hoping to travel during the long weekend, as airports and roads will be busier than usual. Public services and government operations will resume promptly after the holiday.

With the official dates now set, residents can look forward to a well-deserved break and vibrant celebrations. Eid Mubarak in advance to all celebrating across the UAE!
