Al Ain Traffic Alert: UAE Tour to Bring Rolling Closures from Museum to Jebel Hafeet

Al Ain drivers should prepare for a series of rolling road closures this Saturday, February 21, as the UAE Tour men’s cycling race winds its way from Al Ain Museum all the way up to the summit of Jebel Hafeet. Authorities are urging motorists to allow extra travel time and plan ahead, as parts of the city will see phased traffic restrictions throughout the afternoon.

According to Abu Dhabi Mobility, roads will be closed in sections as the race convoy passes, and then reopened as soon as it’s safe—an approach designed to keep disruption to a minimum while ensuring the safety of cyclists, support teams, and the public.

The action kicks off near Al Ain Museum, with the first closures expected between 12:30pm and 1:00pm around Zayed bin Sultan Street and surrounding areas. As the peloton moves through central Al Ain, more closures will follow between 12:40pm and 1:20pm, affecting major junctions and corridors.

From 12:55pm to 1:35pm, expect restrictions along routes to Al Ain International Airport, then from 1:00pm to 1:40pm as the riders head towards Al Jimi. Drivers are advised to watch for detour signs and anticipate delays.

Closures will continue from 1:10pm to 1:55pm near the airport, with further restrictions extending across residential and commercial zones between 1:30pm and 2:25pm. Later phases will impact central districts and the E30 corridor from 2:00pm to 3:20pm, and roads towards Zakir and Green Mubazzarah from 3:05pm to 3:55pm.

The grand finale—the climb up Jebel Hafeet—will see the mountain road closed from 3:45pm to 5:00pm, with congestion expected around Green Mubazzarah Park and popular tourist spots.

Authorities recommend avoiding non-essential travel during these hours and using alternative routes if possible. With the city hosting this high-profile cycling event, a little advance planning will go a long way in ensuring a smooth day for both residents and race fans.
