If you drive in Abu Dhabi, heads up — speed limits are changing on some of the emirate’s busiest roads from February 9. It’s all part of the push to make roads safer and cut down on accidents.
The Joint Traffic Safety Committee and Abu Dhabi Mobility gave this the green light. The goal? Safer roads and smoother traffic flow on those routes everyone uses daily.
Here’s the breakdown: On the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22), speeds drop from 160 km/h to 140 km/h between Al Nahda Interchange and Bani Yas Interchange — both ways. Then from Bani Yas Interchange to the Bridge Complex, it goes down further from 140 km/h to 120 km/h.
Over on Al Rawdah Road (E30), you’ll need to ease off the pedal — it’s dropping from 120 km/h to 100 km/h both ways.
According to officials, these changes are all about making roads safer, keeping traffic flowing better, and improving the overall driving experience — especially on those fast-moving stretches that get packed during rush hour.
Fair warning: keep an eye on those new speed signs and stick to the limits once this rolls out. Nobody wants a surprise fine showing up later.
This is all part of Abu Dhabi’s bigger plan to cut down on serious crashes and encourage safer driving habits throughout the emirate.
