Bunia, Congo: The Ebola outbreak in Congo is getting worse. Congo has found more than 1,000 people who might have Ebola and 282 people who definitely have it. The people in charge of health are trying to stop Ebola from spreading.
The problem is mostly in the part of Ituri province. This is where most of the people with Ebola live. The people in charge say they are having trouble finding people with Ebola early, keeping them away from others, finding out who they were in contact with and making sure hospitals are clean. Even though more people are getting Ebola, some people are getting better. Five health workers got Ebola. They are okay now. They were celebrated when a new Ebola treatment centre opened in Bunia.
These health workers say getting better from Ebola changed their lives. They want people to know that they should go to the hospital soon as they feel sick. The people in charge of health say that if people get help quickly they are more likely to get better.
The World Health Organisation is helping Congo deal with Ebola. Uganda, which is next to Congo, has also found people with Ebola. Is being more careful at the border. Since there is no medicine for this kind of Ebola, the people in charge are watching for new cases, taking care of patients and telling people in the community what to do. The people who know about health say it is hard to stop Ebola because it is in areas where it is not safe and not everyone can get to a hospital. The people who got better from Ebola are giving hope to others while everyone tries to stop the outbreak.
