UAE: People living in the United Arab Emirates are seeing a jump in fuel prices this April. The government is helping some families with this problem.
The price of Super 98 petrol is now Dh3.39 per litre. It used to be Dh2.59 in March. 95 Petrol now costs Dh3.28 per litre. EPlus 91 petrol costs Dh3.20 per litre. Diesel is now Dh4.69 per litre. It used to be Dh2.72. That is an increase.
The United Arab Emirates Fuel Price Committee said these new prices started on April 1. The reason for the increase is that there are problems in the world energy market. There are also problems with getting oil to places that need it.
The Ministry of Community Empowerment is helping people with incomes. They have a programme that gives money to United Arab Emirates families who need it. This programme started in 2022. It helps people pay for things that are getting more expensive.
One part of this programme is the fuel allowance. This is money that the government gives to people to help them pay for fuel. When the price of 95 fuel goes above Dh2.1 per litre people can get this money.
Now the price of Special 95 fuel is Dh3.28. So people who are eligible can get Dh600 per month. If the price goes up to Dh3.61 or more they can get Dh900. If the price is between Dh2.1 and Dh2.85 they can get Dh300.
The head of the household gets this money. If the wife is from the United Arab Emirates she can also get this money.. Only one person can get it per household.
The government is also giving people help with food, electricity and water. This is all part of a plan to help people.
The United Arab Emirates is trying to make sure that people are okay during this time. They want to help people who are struggling with the increase, in prices.
