Dubai to Build 12km Pedestrian Corridor Through Historic Al Ras

Dubai is going to make it easier for people to walk around with a project in Al Ras. They are building a 12km walkway. This walkway will connect places like Al Fahidi Fort, Al Shindagha Historic District and Al Ahmadiya School.

The people in charge of roads and transport in Dubai are making this happen. This is the start of a big plan to make Dubai a city where people can walk easily. The Dubai Walk Master Plan is what they call it.

This new walkway will also connect to transport stations. There will be 11 places where people can get on the metro, bus or boat. The walkway will be nice to use because it will have shaded areas, seats and plants. They are also making paths for bicycles. These paths will be 5km long.

The idea is to make it easy for people to get around without a car. They want to make the last part of a trip easy to do on foot or by bicycle. The walkway will have signs that show people where to go. These signs will look nice. Fit in with the old buildings, in the area.

The Dubai Urban Plan 2040 is what this initiative is about. This plan wants to make sure that more than 80 per cent of people who live in Dubai can get to things they need within 20 minutes. The Dubai Urban Plan 2040 also wants to help Dubai achieve its goals. These goals are to make it easier for people to get around in a way that’s good for the environment and to make peoples lives better.

The people in charge are working with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority on this project. They will make 10 spaces that will show off really cool art. This art will include paintings on walls, sculptures and really cool lights. The artists who make this art are from the United Arab Emirates and Dubai. These spaces will help people remember the history of this area.

There is a plan called the Dubai Walk Master Plan. This plan wants to make than 6,000 kilometers of paths for people to walk on. These paths will be in 160 areas. The plan also includes 110 bridges and underpasses, for people who are walking. The first part of this plan should be finished between 2025 and 2027. Then they will keep working on it a bit at a time. The Dubai Walk Master Plan is a part of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040.
