Nation’s Defence Systems Continue to Thwart Incoming Threats
Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Defence has announced yet another successful interception of aerial threats, revealing that air defence forces shot down 10 ballistic missiles and 26 drones launched from Iran on March 12. The latest wave of attacks comes as the region endures heightened tensions and underscores the ongoing threat facing the Emirates.
Hundreds of Attacks Thwarted in Recent Weeks
The Ministry’s update highlights the scale and intensity of the crisis. Since the escalation began, UAE air defence systems have intercepted a staggering 278 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,540 drones. These figures reflect both the persistence of the threat and the high level of preparedness maintained by the country’s armed forces.
Casualties and Injuries Across Nationalities
Despite the robust defence measures, the attacks have not been without cost. Authorities confirmed that six people have lost their lives, among them nationals of the UAE, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. A further 131 individuals have sustained minor to moderate injuries, affecting a diverse group that includes residents from India, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Türkiye, Iraq, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, and Indonesia.
Armed Forces Remain on High Alert
The Ministry of Defence reiterated its commitment to protecting the UAE’s sovereignty and security. Officials assured the public that the armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any further threats and that the nation’s defence systems are on constant high alert.
Authorities emphasized that the military will take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s residents, infrastructure, and national interests in the face of ongoing aggression.
