UAE Intercepts Iranian Missiles and Drones in Latest Wave of Attacks

The United Arab Emirates successfully intercepted a series of Iranian missiles and drones targeting the country in a new escalation of regional tensions. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that UAE air defence systems detected and neutralized the majority of incoming projectiles during Monday’s attack, preventing significant damage and underscoring the nation’s defensive readiness.

Swift Response to Missile and Drone Assault

According to official statements, the UAE’s air defence network tracked 15 ballistic missiles, intercepting and destroying 12 of them. The remaining three missiles fell harmlessly into the sea. In addition, 18 drones were detected, with 17 intercepted before reaching populated areas. One drone, however, landed within the UAE’s territory.

Authorities stated that all the projectiles originated from Iran, and the country’s defensive systems responded rapidly to the threat. The Ministry highlighted that the successful interceptions demonstrate the effectiveness and preparedness of the UAE’s military in safeguarding its skies.

Ongoing Attacks and Defensive Successes

Since the beginning of the Iranian assault, the UAE has detected a total of 253 ballistic missiles, destroying 233. Eighteen missiles fell into the sea, while two landed inside the country. A total of 1,440 drones have also been tracked, with air defences intercepting 1,359 and 81 falling within UAE territory. Additionally, eight cruise missiles have been detected and destroyed in related incidents.

Casualties and Injuries Reported

Despite the high interception rate, the attacks have resulted in casualties. Officials confirmed that four people—nationals of Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh among them—lost their lives. Another 117 people suffered minor injuries, affecting residents and expatriates from a variety of nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, and Bangladeshi citizens.

Vigilance and Commitment to National Security

The Ministry of Defence reiterated that the UAE Armed Forces remain fully prepared to confront any threats, pledging to prioritize the safety, sovereignty, and stability of the country and its residents. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and maintain heightened defensive readiness in response to ongoing regional instability.
