Fujairah Airport launches special charter flights for stranded travellers

Fujairah International Airport has stepped up to help travellers stranded by ongoing regional airspace restrictions, launching special charter flights in partnership with Oman’s SalamAir. The initiative, running on March 4 and 5, 2026, provides a much-needed travel lifeline as flight disruptions continue to impact thousands across the UAE and the wider Gulf.

These charter flights will connect passengers from Fujairah to Muscat, Oman, where they can then catch onward connections to five major international destinations: Calicut, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Istanbul, and Karachi. This setup is especially valuable for residents and visitors from India, Turkey, and Pakistan who have found themselves unable to return home due to cancelled or postponed flights.

Airport officials say the launch of these services is part of a broader effort to support those facing uncertainty during this period of travel disruption. By working closely with SalamAir, ground handlers, and local authorities, Fujairah Airport has streamlined the check-in and boarding process to ensure a smooth experience for passengers.

Booking these special flights is straightforward: travellers can purchase tickets directly through SalamAir’s official website or with authorised travel agents. Authorities are reminding everyone to check their travel documents ahead of time and to arrive at the airport well in advance, as procedures may differ slightly from regular operations.

Airport teams will be on hand throughout to guide passengers, manage queues, and provide any assistance needed. Officials also noted that they are monitoring the situation closely and may introduce additional travel options if demand continues or if new developments arise.

The launch of these charter flights underlines Fujairah International Airport’s growing role as a flexible, responsive aviation hub within the UAE. While the current disruptions have posed challenges, the airport’s proactive approach offers reassurance—and a clear path home—for stranded travellers from various backgrounds.

For many, these temporary flights bring more than just a ticket out—they provide a sense of certainty and support in a time
