Commuters traveling between Dubai and Sharjah endured another challenging morning on Tuesday as heavy traffic jams gripped several major highways, leading to frustrating delays of up to 45 minutes.
Navigation apps lit up with red and dark-red corridors during the morning rush—particularly between 7am and 9am—signaling gridlock across some of the region’s busiest routes. The E11 Al Ittihad Road was among the hardest hit, with traffic building from Al Khan and Al Taawun in Sharjah all the way to Al Mamzar in Dubai. Approaching major interchanges and city entry points, drivers faced long, slow-moving queues.
Al Wahda Street in Sharjah was barely moving, with near standstill conditions from Al Khan to Al Mulla Plaza. For many, the usual drive stretched by an extra 20 to 25 minutes. King Faisal Street and other inner-city roads were similarly clogged as residents funneled toward Dubai-bound highways.
Another pinch point was Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), with severe congestion reported from Al Zahia City Centre in Sharjah to Muhaisnah 4 in Dubai. What would typically be a 15-minute journey ballooned to as much as 45 minutes, especially near Al Nahda and the S102 Sharjah Ring Road junction.
Some relief was found on Emirates Road (E611), where traffic was lighter—though still moderate—especially for those heading to Dubai Silicon Oasis, Festival City, and the Dubai-Al Ain Road area. Still, drivers were cautioned to expect possible delays due to the overnight closure of Al Dhaid Road Bridge No. 7 for ongoing infrastructure work.
Within Dubai itself, the congestion continued. Southbound Sheikh Zayed Road backed up near the Al Safa and Al Barsha interchanges, while Ras Al Khor Road (E44) was heavily congested between Dubai Design District and Business Bay.
Authorities are urging motorists to keep safe distances, stay tuned to live traffic updates, and consider public transport where possible, hoping to ease some of the pressure on the roads during peak hours.
