UAE Launches ‘Jaheziya’ National Medical Readiness System to Enhance Crisis Response

The UAE has launched “Jaheziya,” a comprehensive National Programme for Medical Readiness and Response, introducing the country’s first unified, internationally accredited training system to bolster crisis response and hospital preparedness.

Jaheziya is designed to ensure that healthcare professionals across the Emirates are equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, disasters, and public health crises. The system aligns with the UAE’s vision for a resilient, proactive healthcare sector prioritising national health security and risk management.

The new framework bridges academic education with practical hospital protocols, creating a unified national approach to emergency preparedness. It centres on four pillars: education, training, research, and practical implementation.

Specialised educational curricula have been developed in areas such as emergency medicine, critical care, surgery, disaster management, and healthcare leadership, all tailored to local needs and aligned with international standards. Training features advanced medical simulation, mass-casualty scenarios, and joint hospital field exercises. The programme also certifies trainers to ensure sustainable knowledge transfer.

On the research front, Jaheziya supports applied studies in healthcare preparedness, with national indicators used to measure readiness and identify gaps in services and policy. The system also strengthens coordination during crisis response, activating structured command-and-control mechanisms for seamless integration between medical teams and emergency services.

Dr. Adel Al Shamry Al Ajmi, CEO of the programme, noted that Jaheziya has already trained thousands of healthcare professionals and partnered with leading global institutions. Specialised training centres have been established across the Emirates, reinforcing national and regional medical readiness.

Through its international partnerships, Jaheziya also helps strengthen healthcare emergency systems in partner countries, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian and disaster relief efforts.
