Apple’s next budget-friendly iPhone is expected to arrive as early as February, potentially bringing some major performance and design upgrades while keeping its entry-level price tag.
Apple may be gearing up to unveil the iPhone 17e this month, according to multiple industry reports and supply-chain leaks. The device is expected to round out Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup, which already includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and the iPhone Air.
The timing makes sense. Apple has recently shifted toward a more predictable annual release cycle for its budget models. The iPhone 16e, which replaced the iPhone SE, launched in February 2025, so a February 2026 debut for the iPhone 17e seems likely.
Rumored upgrades suggest the iPhone 17e could fix several limitations of its predecessor. The device is expected to run on Apple’s A19 chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 17 series, though possibly with fewer GPU cores. Even so, noticeable performance improvements are expected, especially for AI-driven features.
Design changes may include the introduction of Dynamic Island, replacing the traditional notch. The front camera could get an upgrade to an 18MP sensor, while base storage is expected to jump to 256GB — double what the iPhone 16e offered.
Another big addition could be MagSafe support, with reports suggesting 25W wireless charging, a feature that was missing from the previous model. Connectivity upgrades may also come through a newer C1X modem, improving speed and efficiency.
Pricing is expected to start at $599, similar to the iPhone 16e. In the UAE, where the iPhone 16e launched at Dh2,599, the iPhone 17e is likely to debut at a comparable price.
If these upgrades come through without a price increase, the iPhone 17e could offer serious value for UAE consumers looking for flagship-level features without the flagship price tag.
