Dubai: UAE motorists are facing a sharp rise in fuel costs starting October 1. Petrol prices have gone above Dh4 per litre as global energy prices stay high.
The new rates mean that filling a 60-litre tank could cost up to Dh124.80 more than it did in February.
October fuel prices
Under the UAE’s fuel-pricing system, prices have been updated. Super 98 will now cost Dh4.40 per litre. Special 95 will be priced at Dh4.28 and E-Plus 91 at Dh4.21. Diesel has gone up to Dh4.80 per litre.
Compared to September,r petrol prices have jumped by between 15.8% and 16.6%. Diesel has increased by 11.6%.
The UAE Fuel Price Committee sets these rates each month. It looks at changes in energy markets and also considers local needs.
How much more will a full tank cost?
The impact becomes clear when comparing October’s prices with those from February.
A 60-litre tank of Super 98 will now cost Dh264 in October. In February, it was Dh155.40. That is an extra Dh108.60.
For Special 95, the cost will be Dh256.80, up from Dh148.80.
E-Plus 91 will rise from Dh144 to Dh252.60.
Diesel shows the jump. A 60-litre fill-up will cost Dh288 compared to Dh163.20 in February. That’s Dh124.80 more.
For a vehicle with an 80-litre tank,nk the extra cost will be about Dh144 for petrol and Dh166.40 for diesel.
UAE prices remain below average
Even with this increase, the UAE’s October price for Special 95 remains below the global average.
At around $1.17 per litre,e the UAE rate is 26% lower than the current global average of $1…. This comparison is only approximate as international prices keep shifting.
Petrol below 2022 record
October’s petrol prices are still lower than the high point seen in July 2022. Then, Super 98 was Dh4., per litre. Now it’s Dh4.40.
But diesel has broken its record. It rose to Dh4.80 in October, above the July 2022 level.
Future fuel prices will depend on crude oil and refined product prices. Regional energy supply conditions will also play a role.
