New initiative offers workweeks, flexible schedules and remote work options from June 29 to September 10
Dubai: The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has announced that they are starting the “Our Flexible Summer” initiative for 2026. This means government employees in Dubai will have flexible working hours during the summer.
The programme will start on June 29. End on September 10 2026. The goal is to make sure employees are happy and healthy and that they can balance their work and family life. The government wants to make sure that employees can take care of their families while still doing their job.
There are two ways that government entities can make their working hours more flexible. Some employees will work seven hours a day from Monday to Thursday. Four and a half hours on Friday*. Other employees will work *eight hours a day from Monday to Thursday. Have Friday off. Some government departments might also let employees work from home if it is possible. This will give employees more flexibility during the summer.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, the Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, said that when employees are happy and healthy, they do a job. He thinks that flexible working hours can make employees more positive and productive.
Al Falasi said that the programme is part of Dubai’s plan to make the government more people-friendly. The government wants to make sure that employees are happy and have a quality of life. He also said that creating workplaces is important for making Dubai a great place to live and work.
The initiative also supports the UAE’s “Year of Family”. This means that employees will have time to spend with their families and friends. Dubai introduced a summer work model to modernise government workplaces. Employees and government entities liked the programme. It made them happier and more productive.
The government thinks that the 2026 programme will make workplaces more flexible. They want to create a government that’s ready for the future and that takes care of its employees. The initiative shows that Dubai is committed to building a public sector. The government wants to make sure that employees have a quality of life and that they can work flexibly and efficiently.
