UAE Weather Alert: Rain, Strong Winds and Dust Expected in Al Ain Through Thursday

Authorities warn of visibility and hazardous driving conditions as unstable weather affects eastern UAE

Al Ain: The UAE has issued a weather alert for Al Ain, warning residents of rainfall, strong winds and reduced visibility through Thursday as unstable weather conditions continue to affect parts of the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology says convective cloud activity is expected to develop over Al Ain on June 24 and 25, bringing light to heavy rainfall that could become heavy at times during the daytime. Rainfall and strong winds are expected in Al Ain. Meteorologists say the weather system may also generate active to downburst winds associated with thunderclouds. These winds are capable of lifting dust and sand into the air, causing reductions in visibility and creating challenging conditions for motorists.

The National Centre of Meteorology warned that visibility levels could deteriorate rapidly in areas, particularly during periods of intense rainfall and strong wind activity. Residents have been advised to remain updated through weather forecasts and alerts.

Drivers are urged to be extra careful while travelling. They should reduce speed and follow all traffic safety instructions. Motorists are also advised to avoid valley routes and low-lying areas that may be vulnerable to water accumulation or runoff during periods of heavy rain.

Emergency and weather officials stress the importance of remaining alert to changing weather conditions in eastern and mountainous regions where convective cloud formation is more common during the summer months.

The alert comes as seasonal atmospheric instability continues to influence weather patterns across parts of the UAE. Convective clouds frequently develop over inland regions during summer, occasionally producing thunderstorms, strong winds and localised rainfall despite generally hot temperatures elsewhere in the country.

Rainfall can bring relief from the summer heat. However, accompanying winds and dust can significantly affect road safety and outdoor activities. Residents planning travel in and around Al Ain are encouraged to monitor weather updates and adjust plans if necessary. The National Centre of Meteorology will continue monitoring the situation and provide updated forecasts as weather conditions evolve over the coming days. Officials have reiterated that public safety remains a priority and urged everyone to follow guidance issued by authorities throughout the weather event.
